Smith Phenom Goggle (Ignitor Mirror, Black Foundation) Reviews
| 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Smith Phenom Goggle (Sports) The Sensor Mirror lens offers great contrast in flat light. I also purchased a Platinum Mirror lens which is a good all-around lens. The lens are fairly easy to swap with practice. The goggles are comfortable, unless you choose to wear a ski-helmet. Even if your helmet is made by Smith (I wear a medium Maze), the goggle-strap is probably not long enough to avoid compressing your eyeballs. You can buy a Smith-manufactured "Helmet Helper" strap extension for $5-10...plus $8 shipping/handling. Or you can make a ghetto substitute like I had to, since the Helmet Helper was out of stock almost everywhere when I got these goggles. In case you were wondering, the giant strap-buckle will not allow you to wear the strap inside of your helmet. My $40 Smith goggles came with a much longer strap that has fit all of my ski helmets. I would expect a goggle that retails for $110 more would give me an extra 2" of strap material. Or, Smith could include the Helmet Helper with the goggles. It shouldn't... The fit is great and I actually had room to fit my glasses behind it on occassion when I forget my contacts. The goggles are comfortable around the face with a soft fleece like material, and the rubberized material on the back of the strap holds it in place well on my helmet without sliding up and down. On wet rainy days - its just too much for the venting and the inside of the goggle can fog up. They do make a turbo fan version to really blow out the moisture if necessary. lense can be changed/replaced with different tints, mirrored lenses tend to scratch easy. Overall been happy with mine, for a combination of form, fit, function and comfort. Ding one star for how easy it is to scratch the lens. 1 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Smith Phenom Goggle (Sports) I teach skiing and need good goggles. I shopped around and finally decided on which model I wanted. All the local shops were sold out of the lens that I wanted. I got these right before a trip to Whistler. It snowed at Cypress Mtn real hard. The goggles kept fogging up between the lenses. The rest of the weekend, I had to take them off on the chairlift so they wouldn't fog up. When I got back from the trip I called Smith and sent them back. A week later, I had a new pair and skied the local ski area. They are Great!!! Good fit, color and very comfortable.. NO FOGGING!! |
